What is a cassette awning and why should I get one?
A cassette awning is any awning that has a casing that the awning retracts into when not in use. This casing is known as the cassette.
Cassettes help to protect the full structure – the roller, fabric cover, and arms – from rain, dirt, and anything else that could cause damage. This ensures your outdoor living structure stays in pristine condition for longer. In commercial settings, they can also protect the awning from vandalism.
There are two types of cassette awning: full cassette and semi cassette. Full cassettes fully enclose the awning from all sides, while semi cassettes only enclose the awning from the top and the sides, leaving the underside exposed. Some awnings do not have cassettes at all, leaving the awning susceptible to damage.
